Supervisors are responsible for providing leadership and direction for pool staff working under their guidance and direction.
Pool Hours: 7:00am to 8:30/10:00pm Monday through Friday and/or 8:00am to 9:30pm Saturday/Sunday
Position term: June 1 to September 2. Hours of Work: Varying day, evening and/or weekend shifts.
As a Supervisor you…
- Will be actively involved in creating and maintaining a safe fun environment and are competent and skilled in emergency response procedures and providing first aid. To do this, you must be able to think, react and lead quickly in adverse situations.
- May be required to assist in coordination of all functions including recruiting, training, scheduling, evaluating, coaching and supervision
- Will lead the staff starting in-service and provide training to anyone who was unable to attend
- Will design and lead special events, and programs
- Will oversee online public swim, lesson and rental registrations and also accept in person payments
- Will display knowledge of and compliance with policies and procedures and codes related to the operation of an aquatic facility
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical and chemical systems and maintaining water quality
- Show experience in leadership, organization, and communication skills. This position will be required to assign, guide and monitor lifeguard or instructor staff to complete job duties. At all times you will exercise initiative, tact and diplomacy
- Demonstrate public education, outreach strategies and promotion of aquatic programs
- Are dedicated to maintaining and improving our community and as such, assist the public and other staff with professionalism, courtesy and respect
- Exhibit strong customer service skills including cash handling, concession support, registrations, and patron admissions. Will also work to maintain the set staffing budget
- Will assist in facility startup, shut-down and assists with routine maintenance and daily cleanliness providing a clean and safe environment for all patrons and staff
- Are energetic, with a high sense of urgency, strong work ethic and ability to think clearly while handling multiple priorities
- Be willing to upgrade training as needed

- NL (National Lifeguard)
- LSI (Lifesaving Society Instructor)
- Intermediate First Aid CPR C/AED
- Pool Supervisor must have Pool Operators 1 & 2 and Shift Supervisor or Shift Lead must have Pool Operators 1

- Violence in the Workplace Awareness Training an asset
- Lifesaving Instructor and asset
- Lifesaving Swim Instructor Trainer an asset

- Previous supervisory experience in an aquatics setting is required for Pool Supervisor and emerging experience preferred for Shift Supervisor

- Keeping the pool deck clean and tidy and ensure that all other facility daily maintenance and cleaning is complete

- Respond to parent questions about their child’s lessons
- Assist and or lead in emergency situations
- Set up and put away equipment, when lesson use is over and before public swim starts
As a lifeguard, you will…
- Demonstrate continual monitoring of pool activities to prevent accidents
- Lead and/or assist in emergency situations. This may include performing lifesaving and resuscitation or 1st Aid as required
- Ensure patron compliance with standards and procedures. This may include educating patrons on safe practices
- Respond to customer questions, concerns, and requests for program information
Qualifications:
- NL (National Lifeguard) certification
- LSI (Lifesaving Society Instructor) certification
- Must be a minimum of 16 yrs of age
- First Aid CPR C/AED certification
- WHIMIS
- Violence in the Workplace Awareness Training
- Water chemistry and pool operations experience an asset
- Lifesaving Swim Instructor Trainer an asset

- Candidates must commit to consistent availability with no extended time away:
- For Full Time – June 9 or 16 to August 22 or 29

This position reports to the Pool Supervisor and the Community Liaison
Position term June 26 to Aug. 22 or 29th Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm and inservice June 7
- Provide creative and energetic supervision and leadership to all campers
- Cooperate with other DayCamp staff to provide a positive care environment
- Enter the pool with campers for swimming instruction or free swim
- Provide 1st Aid care when necessary
- Meet and greet parents and campers on arrival and departure from camp
- Maintain a clean and safe work/play environment
- Display superior customer service, proficient problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Assist with other camp or pool related duties as required
- Attend staff in-services as scheduled
- Exercise initiative, tact and diplomacy
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children age 6 – 13 in a recreational or educational setting
- Intermediate water safety knowledge and a interest/ability to being in the pool daily teaching or supervising campers
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional customer service skills and solid problem solving abilities
- The ability to work Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm
- A strong work ethic and initiative towards continuous improvement
