Private Lessons are offered weekly Monday to Friday. Instruction covers stoke improvement & water safety. Lessons must be pre-booked. Participants in Semi-Private lessons must pre-arrange their own groups before registering; they are not arranged by HOP staff. It is recommended that participants are not more than one level apart. |

30 - Minute Monday to Friday Private/Semi-Private Times Private swim lessons are 1:1 or 1:2 lessons with a swim instructor. Swimmers’ can work through the Lifesaving society’s swim levels or focus on specific skills. Lessons can be adapted to the requests of the swimmers or parents/guardians. Private instruction is 25/30 minutes - Instruction time is 25 minutes and will extend to make 30, but if a parent needs to chat please advise the Instructor at the start of your child's lesson. The lesson will end earlier or start later to offer a buffer to answer any parental questions without impacting the next participant's lesson time. |

Bronze Star Recommended: Completion of Rookie, Ranger or Star Patrol. Age 12+ years The Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Star develops swimming proficiency, lifesaving skill, and personal fitness. Candidates refine their stroke mechanics, acquire self-rescue skills, and apply fitness principles in training workouts. Bronze Medallion The 16-hour Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Medallion challenges the candidate both mentally and physically. Judgement, knowledge, skill, and fitness – the four components of water rescue – form the basis of Bronze Medallion training. Candidates acquire the assessment and problem-solving skills needed to make good decisions in, on, and around the water. Candidates will also be taught CPR for adults, children and infants as well as AED usage. A CPR-C certification will also be awarded prior to successful completion. Bronze Medallion is a pre-requisite for assistant lifeguard training in Bronze Cross. 100% attendance is required. Pre-requisite(s): 13 years of age (or Bronze Star) and CPR-C (CPR-C is offered within the course and does not have to be done prior.) | 2024 Date: Mon/Tu/Wed July 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 & 24 | 4:45 - 7:30pm | $180.00 |
Bronze Cross Pre-requisite(s): 13 years of age, Bronze Medallion and Intermediate (Standard) First Aid CPR-C & AED. The 20-hour Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as an assistant lifeguard. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasized the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a pre-requisite for advanced training in the Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs. 100% attendance is mandatory. | 2024 Date: Monday to Friday TBA | 7:00 - 11:30am | $220.00 |
Notes:
- Swim Lesson Cancellation Policy - Swim lessons must be paid at the time of booking and are not refundable or transferable.
- In water lessons will proceed through rain and cooler temperatures. In the event of unsafe weather or mechanical/chemical difficulties, dry land learning will continue indoors.
- The pool water is heated and chemically treated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The pool basin and water features are CLOSED to all spectators during lessons.
Spectators must sit well away from the pool basin so as to allow ample room for movement of pool staff and lesson participants.
For safety, please keep all younger children within arms reach when not in lessons.. -
Many of the HOP swim instructor are also certified Lifeguards.
Each employee has gone through numerous hours of training to become certified in their individual awards.
HOP has a lesson guard on duty during all swimming lessons as an extra set of eyes. -
HOP has Swim diapers, Gabby's plastic swim pants, goggles and ear plugs available to purchase at the front counter.
Tots under the age of 3 must wear plastic pants over their swim diapers.
We ask that all diapers be changed in the change rooms and not on the pool deck for sanitary reasons -
